Algirdas Jakas is an artist currently living in Vilnius, who studied printmaking at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and sculpture at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg (HFBK).

His artistic practice is oriented toward the synthesis of anxiety and various forms of self-diagnosis. Using materials and techniques associated with hobbies or therapeutic activity — such as drawing and DIY aesthetics — he explores individual self-help practices, creating what might be called "instruments of anxiety." The artist is also interested in the transparency of the body and its datafication, and in the technologies of hope. These concerns frequently connect with the history and specificity of the exhibition site, becoming an additional layer of the work.
